St Mary's Parochial Church Council (PCC) has the responsibility of cooperating with the priest in charge, Rev Daniel Hartley, in the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. The PCC is also specifically responsible for the maintenance of the Church building. The PCC operates under the Parochial Church Council Powers Measure.
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) members are responsible for making decisions on all matters of general concern and importance to the parish, including deciding on how the funds of the church are to be spent.
PCC members undergo training on Safeguarding, and Awareness of Domestic Abuse training. They are DBS checked, and will sign a Charity Trustee declaration, once elected.
St Mary's PCC meets usually once a month, in the church building. Minutes are available on request.

If you're interested in standing in the election for PCC membership at the next AGM election, please talk to either the Churchwardens or PCC Chairs. We don't have any current vacancies, so membership is elected at the next APM in 2025.

Annual Parish Church Meeting
At the Annual General Meeting in April/early May each year, elections for PCC members are held. Certain roles do not have to be elected onto the PCC, such as the Priest in Charge, Pastoral Workers, Deanery Synod representatives, Lay Readers, and Churchwardens: these are called 'ex-officio' appointments.
The method of appointment of PCC members is set out in the Church Representation Rules. The Churchwardens and Deanery Synod Representatives are elected at the AGM and given 'ex officio' membership onto the PCC.
All those on the Electoral Roll at that time are invited to the Annual Parish Meeting, receive the meeting papers, and can vote at the meeting.
