St. Mary’s Church is part of the Church of England, which teaches that there is one God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that Jesus (the Son) is fully God and fully human. The Church of England views the bible ‘as containing all things necessary for salvation’ and as ‘the rule and ultimate standard of faith’.

One of the teaching tools we normally use on Sunday mornings is the statement of our faith or 'creed' such as the Apostle's Creed which expresses these and other core beliefs of the Christian faith.

Within the Church of England, St Mary’s church is part of the Diocese of Sheffield, under the authority of the Bishop of Sheffield. Under his authority we are within the Archdeaconry of Sheffield and Rotherham in the Attercliffe Deanery. Our area dean and archdeacon provide guidance and teaching for us under the teaching authority of the bishop.

Rev. Daniel Hartley is Priest-in-Charge of both St Mary the Virgin Church, Beighton, and St James the Great, Woodhouse and Oversight Minister in the South East Attercliffe Mission Area.
